Caddo Sheriff's Camp, an overnight camp for boys ages 9-12, will be held at Garland Scout Ranch in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, Norwela Council. The camp recognizes boys from Caddo Parish for good behavior and academic achievement and introduces them to the scouting program.

The purpose of the camp is to develop leadership skills and encourage involvement in scouting by introducing campers to outdoor activities like swimming, archery, and marksmanship.

Transportation to and from camp is provided, and funding is made possible through citizen donations. Applications can be obtained from the Boy Scout office by calling 868-2774.

Each summer, Sheriff's Safety Town offers tailor-fit mini-camps for children interested in learning more about safety. Simply tell us how many kids are in your group, their grade level(s), the areas you would like us to cover (18 to choose from), and how long they’ll be with us (example: 1 hour, 3 hours, 5 hours, etc.), and then we’ll design a mini camp that will not only meet your needs but will exceed your expectations.

Our one-day mini camps are offered during the summer, Mondays-Fridays. Please check out the Sheriff’s Safety Town website for more information (www.sheriffssafetytown.org).

There is no charge to attend our camps, so please don’t hesitate to call Community Programs at 681-0875 to register your kids today. We look forward to seeing you soon!!!

The Caddo Sheriff's Youth Firearms Education Camp will be held at the Sheriff's Regional Training Academy. Boys and girls ages 10-13 may select any day during the week to join Caddo deputies on the firing range for supervised firearms safety education and .22 rifle target shooting. In addition, campers will learn rural and urban survival skills, water safety, and hands-on defensive techniques to protect against stranger abduction.

Camp registration begins at 8:00 a.m. each day and takes place at the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Academy located on Hwy. 1 South past Flournoy Lucas Road. Transportation is provided by the Sheriff’s Office or you can be responsible for your child’s transportation. Each participant must arrive dressed in appropriate attire. No shorts, sandals, or open-toe shoes are allowed due to the nature of the activities. Only children who are properly dressed will be allowed to participate.

While at camp, your child will spend half their day on the range with the Range Master and instructors and half participating in various presentations on important safety issues. Lunch is not provided by the Sheriff’s Office. It is your responsibility to provide a non-perishable lunch for your child or enough money for lunch to be purchased for them. At the end of the day, certificates will be awarded to all participants.

The Y.F.S.E.C. staff consists of trained law enforcement officers of the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office who work in various departments throughout the organization. Each staff member’s job is to provide valuable instruction and monitor the safety of your child in the classroom and on the range.

Age requirement is 10-13.

Brochure Hold Harmless (Adult) Hold Harmless (Minor)

This program is designed to bring awareness to young drivers of the dangers associated with operating a motor vehicle and what they can do to be safe behind the wheel. Participants must have a valid driver's license or valid learner's permit.

The course includes several hands-on activities that focus on distraction and impairment. The primary component involves participants operating a street-legal, electric car through an obstacle course under four separate conditions: with no impairments or distractions; while texting the "Pledge of Allegiance;" while wearing goggles that simulate being intoxicated; and while wearing goggles that simulate being under the influence of narcotics. It's fun and informative.
