Man arrested after pursuit by CPSO
A Shreveport man was booked into jail on multiple charges this morning after a car pursuit involving the Caddo Sheriff’s Office, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Terence Tyron Carthren had eluded sheriff’s deputies for the past three months after failing to show up for court on 11 counts of felony theft. But at 5:30 this morning, he was spotted in a vehicle outside his residence by Sheriff’s Sgt. Mike Middleton of the CPSO Warrants Division. When Middleton pulled up to the driver’s side of Carthren’s car, Carthren drove away.
Middleton activated his lights and siren and pursued Carthren for the next four miles from Tulsa Street to Youree Drive. During the pursuit, Carthren committed numerous traffic violations to avoid arrest, including running stop signs and driving in the opposing lane of traffic.
Middleton was joined by a Shreveport Police unit on Youree Drive, and the two took Carthren into custody after he finally stopped his vehicle in a parking lot.
Carthren, 40, of 6009 Tulsa, was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center on a Caddo warrant for eleven counts of felony theft and a fugitive warrant from Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office. He was also charged with aggravated flight from an officer.
