Man arrested for attempted rape
Caddo deputies arrested a Shreveport man over the weekend for a break-in on Dellwood Avenue and the attempted rape of a young woman, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Brandon Lee Gibson, 27, of the 4600 block of North Lakeshore Drive, faces charges of attempted forcible rape, aggravated burglary, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, two counts of resisting an officer, resisting an officer with force, battery of a police officer, and possession of schedule II narcotics (methamphetamine).
The incident occurred Friday evening, Feb. 8, when Gibson came to the victim’s door and asked to use the phone, according to Det. Matt Purgerson. She refused, but agreed to charge Gibson’s cell phone. When the victim went to the kitchen to charge the phone, Gibson entered her home without permission and attempted to sexually assault her. The victim was able to escape her attacker and run to a neighbor’s for help. She was later treated and released from a local hospital.
Gibson fled the scene on foot but Caddo Sheriff’s patrol deputies and K-9 units arrested him a short time later at a residence on Hampton Lane. As deputies placed him under arrest, he struck a deputy in the face and resisted being taken into custody. He was subdued by a K-9 and taken to LSUHSC for treatment of a dog bite. Upon his release, Gibson was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center by sheriff’s Deputy Jamie Hendrix and Sgt. Glenn Cornell.
