The annual youth summer recreation program sponsored by the Caddo Sheriff's Office kicks off June 4, providing safe, summer activities for area youngsters, said Caddo Parish Sheriff Steve Prator.
Children and teens ages 10 to 18 can participate in basketball and table games like checkers, cards and dominoes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays. The program is closed on Fridays. The activities will take place in the gymnasiums at Huntington High School, 6801 Rasberry Lane; Caddo Middle Career & Technology School, 6310 Clift Street; and Booker T. Washington High School, 2104 Milam Street.
Each location is supervised by instructors provided by the Caddo School Board. Pre-registration is not required, and there is no fee; however, participants are required to sign in. The program will continue through July 19.
