Caddo sheriff's detectives have arrested a 16-year-old juvenile in connection with last night's homicide of Kevin Sheppard of Vivian, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The juvenile, who is also from Vivian, was arrested for first-degree murder and is expected to be booked into the Caddo Juvenile Detention Center.

Detectives say the juvenile approached Sheppard outside Sheppard's house on Lowland Street, then pulled a gun in an attempt to rob Sheppard. The two struggled and Sheppard was shot in the back. The juvenile fled on foot.
