Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator is making crash reports prepared by the Caddo Sheriff's Office available online effective today.
Louisiana law states that only parties to the accident, the parents or guardians of minors in an accident, their insurers, their succession representatives, their attorneys, or the news media may have access to crash reports. To purchase a report online, these representatives must be able to provide the report number, date of the accident, and the last name of the person involved.
Online reports of crashes that occur on public roadways can be purchased for $10, half of which goes to the online service provider. Private property reports such as those that occur on a business parking lot are $9. Accident photos are $2 per photo. Reports can still be purchased in person for $5 by visiting the Sheriff's Records Division at the Caddo Parish Courthouse. Fatality report information will not be available online.
