A pedestrian was killed this morning after being hit by a KCS train in Vivian.
Officials have not confirmed the victim's identity, but he is believed to be a 49-year-old Vivian man. Witnesses said he was crossing the tracks on foot headed toward Hwy. 1 when he was hit by the southbound train. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The train had just passed through an official train crossing at Hwy. 1 and Hwy.2 and was traveling about 49 in the 55 mile per hour speed zone. Witnesses said the engineer sounded his whistle before the accident. Go Back
