In the early hours of September 26, a high-speed chase in Caddo Parish, Louisiana, led to the arrest of a motorcyclist who attempted to evade law enforcement, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn Sr.

Just after midnight, Caddo Parish K9 Handler Deputy Vaitkus spotted two motorcycles committing multiple traffic violations at the intersection of North Market and North Port Boulevard. When Deputy Vaitkus attempted to stop them, both motorcyclists fled northbound at speeds exceeding 100 mph.

A rider, later identified as 25-year-old Logan C. Smith, crashed while making a high-speed turn onto LA Hwy 173 South. After the crash, Smith attempted to pick up his motorcycle and continue fleeing but eventually abandoned it and walked directly toward Deputy Vaitkus. Despite clear verbal commands to get on the ground, Smith refused to comply. As a result, Deputy Vaitkus deployed K9 "Snoop," who successfully apprehended him.

Smith received medical attention at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, located at 1501 Kings Highway in Shreveport, LA, for injuries sustained during the crash and K9 apprehension. After receiving treatment, he was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on multiple charges, including:

- Aggravated Flight from an Officer (Felony)
- Reckless Operation of a Vehicle
- Improper Display of License Plates
- Switched License Tags

The second motorcyclist remains unaccounted for, and the investigation is ongoing.
