This evening, just before 5 PM, Caddo Parish patrol deputies investigated a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in one fatality, as reported by Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr.

At 4:57 PM on May 21, deputies responded to a collision involving a gray truck and a white SUV on Interstate 49, just north of the Southern Loop exit. According to the deputies, the gray truck was traveling northbound on I-49 when it collided with the SUV, which was also heading north on the same interstate. The impact caused the truck to catch fire.

Caddo Fire District 6 arrived at the scene and pronounced the driver of the gray truck deceased. The driver and passengers of the SUV refused medical attention.

Deputies are still on the scene to determine the cause of the accident. 

The outer lane of I-49 northbound is closed while deputies investigate the crash; however, the inner lane remains open, allowing vehicles to travel northward.
