Woman arrested following a pursuit involving multiple agencies
A Caddo woman was arrested this afternoon on multiple charges following a car chase that resulted in injuries to a Caddo Deputy and a Blanchard Police Officer, according to Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr.
On April 2 at approximately 2:54 PM, the Blanchard Police Department received a report of a shoplifter at Elsie's Truck Stop located at 7101 Louisiana Highway 1. Upon arrival, a Blanchard officer observed the suspect getting into a white SUV. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, the suspect dragged the officer, causing injuries to the officer. Caddo deputies spotted the suspect’s vehicle heading south on LA Hwy 1. They pursued the vehicle until it crashed into a deputy's car at the intersection of LA Hwy 1 and Interstate 49.
Elease Williams, 46, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Caddo Correctional Center. She was booked on several charges, including aggravated second-degree battery, aggravated flight from an officer, aggravated assault with a motor vehicle upon a police officer, and aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce.
The Blanchard officer was taken to Ochsner/LSU at 1501 East Kings Highway, Shreveport, LA, with moderate injuries. The deputy who was struck by the suspect's vehicle was transported to Willis Knighton North at 2600 Greenwood Road, Shreveport, LA, with non-life-threatening injuries.
