An Oil City man was arrested at Northwood High School for battery on a peace officer and other charges, said Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr.

On March 4, shortly after 9 AM, Northwood High School was placed on lockdown due to a possible tornado in the area. Gary W. Fenner, 70, arrived at the school to pick up his grandchild. Deputy Nunnery, the School Resource Officer (SRO), informed Fenner that he could not check out the student at that time because of the lockdown. In response, Fenner threatened to kill Deputy Nunnery and charged at him with a large umbrella. Deputy Nunnery then used a Taser on Fenner after he was struck with the object. Fenner managed to get back up and attempted to fight Deputy Nunnery. However, Deputy Nunnery and the school security officer were able to place Fenner into custody.

Fenner was assessed by Caddo Fire District 1 and subsequently transported to Caddo Correctional Center. At the center, he was booked on charges that include battery of a peace officer, resisting arrest, aggravated assault on a peace officer, disturbing the peace, and unlawful disruption of a school.
