Caddo man arrested for traffic violations and drug offenses
A Shreveport man has been arrested for hit-and-run and drug charges, according to Caddo Sheriff Henry Whitehorn, Sr.
On February 28, just after 8 PM, Caddo Parish Patrol Deputies were dispatched to a crash at I-49 and North Market. Before their arrival, the suspect, Jimmy Weldon Scott, 44, left the scene in a tan Camry, heading north on I-49. Deputies located the vehicle near the Belcher Oil City Road offramp and initiated a traffic stop.
Before the stop, Scott shattered the passenger side window and discarded items from the vehicle. Once the vehicle was stopped, he was taken into custody for hit-and-run, driving under suspension, and reckless operation. A search of the area where Scott had discarded the items led deputies to discover suspected methamphetamine. Consequently, Scott was also charged with the manufacturing and distribution of Schedule II drugs after over 25 grams of methamphetamine were recovered.
Jimmy W. Scott was transported to the Caddo Correctional Center, where he was booked on the aforementioned charges.
