At approximately 7:25 AM, a tow truck driver traveling southbound collided with the rear of a school bus that had stopped to pick up a child. Caddo Parish Sheriff’s deputies and Caddo Fire District 1 responded to the scene. The school bus was carrying seven children and one driver at the time of the crash. Four children were transported to local hospitals by the fire department for non-life-threatening injuries, while the tow truck driver was taken to Ochsner LSU Health at 1501 Kings Highway in Shreveport, LA, with life-threatening injuries.

The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office praised the quick actions of the school bus driver, who saved a child attempting to board the bus just moments before the tow truck crashed into it. Without the driver's intervention, the child could have fallen out of the bus and potentially been struck by the tow truck.

North Market Southbound was closed immediately following the crash but has since reopened.
