Deputies closed down I-49 North after a major crash involving four vehicles, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The call came in on Sunday evening just before 10 p.m. about a head-on collision caused by a red vehicle traveling southbound on I-49 North. Multiple agencies responded including the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office, Shreveport Police, Caddo Fire District 6, Caddo Fire District 5 and the Shreveport Fire Department.

I-49 North has been completely shutdown at southern loop, a half-mile south of mile marker 196, while I-49 South is down to one lane.

First responders extracted at least one person. At least three people will be transported to the hospital, including one child.
