Caddo deputies responded to a deadly crash following a pursuit by Shreveport Police early on Saturday, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

CPSO Lt. Matt Cowden arrived at Woolworth Rd. and Colquitt Rd.  just after 1 a.m. where he found a pick up truck completely engulfed in flames. Lt. Cowden said the truck was leading SPD on a chase when it ran off a roadway and crashed into a tree. 

SPD officers attempted to extract the driver from the vehicle but was unable to due to the fire. Caddo Fire District 4 responded to put out the flames. The driver died at the scene and was transported by the Caddo coroner.

The crash remains under investigation.
