A man and woman were arrested for having an elderly victim’s car and checkbooks while the victim was in a local nursing home, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Nathan McCall, 31, and Megan Norris, 35, both of Shreveport, were arrested on Monday, December 7, at a bank where they were attempting to take money from the victim’s account.

The Sheriff’s Office was alerted by banking officials that Norris was inside the bank attempting to negotiate a $7,200 check while McCall waited outside in the victim’s vehicle. Both suspects were detained while a search of the vehicle was conducted by Caddo Sheriff's Cpl. Grady Hardman, Cpl. Malcolm Laing, and Shreveport Police. Deputies and officers recovered suspected methamphetamine, marijuana, a loaded firearm with multiple magazines, and several of the victim's checkbooks from the vehicle.

Caddo Sheriff’s Det. Mike King said the victim did not know either of the suspects and did not give permission for them to have her property. He also said McCall had previously negotiated a check from the victim's account.

King booked McCall into Caddo Correctional Center for Forgery, Possession of Schedule I, Possession of Schedule II, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Illegal Carrying of Weapons, Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, and on an outstanding arrest warrant for Simple Burglary. Norris was booked on charges of Forgery and Possession of Schedule II.
