Student arrested for terrorizing
Thursday, December 3, 2020
A student at Byrd High School was arrested for terrorizing after he made a bomb threat against the school, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Just after 10 a.m. today, the student alerted school officials that he saw a threat against the school on Instagram. The school was locked down for over an hour while it was searched by the Caddo Sheriff's Office, Shreveport Fire Department, and school faculty.
The CPSO Cyber Crimes Unit traced the Instagram account to the juvenile who reported the threat. Sheriff's Captain Bobby Herring said the student created the account for the purpose of making the threat because he wanted to leave school.
The student, who is 15, was booked into the Juvenile Detention Center.
