Business owner arrested for fraud
Updated with additional charge:
The owner of One Planet Solar was arrested on Thursday for home improvement fraud, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Matthew Roberts, 48, of Stonewall, is accused of accepting $14,120 from a client to install solar panels but did little work and failed to complete the project by the agreed upon deadline. He also presented a fraudulent certificate of insurance when he entered into the contract with the victim.
Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Mike King investigated the case and obtained a warrant for Roberts’ arrest. The Desoto Parish Sheriff’s Office picked up Roberts on the warrant. He was transferred to Caddo Parish and booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for home improvement fraud and forgery of a certificate of insurance.
Late today a second victim notified the Sheriff's Office that Roberts used the same fake certificate of insurance on her home improvement project. Roberts was then charged with a second count of forgery of a certificate of insurance.
