Caddo Sheriff’s detectives arrested an Oil City man for beating his 4-year-old son, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

Luke Collins, 23 of the 10,000 block of Plum Point Road in Oil City was arrested for cruelty to juveniles following an investigation by Sheriff’s Detective Jacob Bergren. Judge O’Callaghan issued an arrest warrant for Collins after Detective Bergren presented his investigative findings. Collins is currently being held at Caddo Correctional Center with no bond.  

The mother of the child discovered the injuries and contacted the Caddo Sheriff’s Office. According to Detective Bergren, Collins excessively whipped the 4-year-old with a belt, causing severe bruising to one side of the child’s body. The bruises covered the child’s waist and most of the child's leg.
