Caddo Sheriff’s deputies have closed multiple cases of theft with the arrest of Michael Anthony Casey, 31, of Shreveport.

Sheriff Steve Prator said Casey is accused of stealing several pieces of lawn equipment from residences on North Club Drive in May and June and pawning the items. He’s also accused of stealing lawn equipment from a truck used for a lawn business on Quad J Road. Some of the equipment was pawned and some was sold on the streets.

Caddo Sheriff’s detectives developed Casey as a suspect in these cases. He was arrested on Monday after Patrol Sgt. Ondray Miles located him driving a vehicle that matched one used during the thefts. Miles conducted a traffic stop and took Casey into custody on an active warrant.

Det. Matt Purgerson said Casey lives near where the thefts occurred and that the thefts were crimes of opportunity. “He would look for lawn equipment that was easily accessible, stuff he could take quick and then pawn,” he said.

Casey is charged with one count of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things and six counts of Theft.
