Woman arrested after refusing to return money
Thursday, March 17, 2016
Caddo Sheriff’s detectives arrested a woman for felony theft after she failed to return thousands of dollars that were deposited into her bank account in error, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
Cheralyn Coatney, 40, of Shreveport, was an office manager for Central Management. After leaving her job for unrelated reasons, she was issued a final check by direct deposit. The deposit had an error which caused it to be in the amount of $10,477 instead of $1,528. The company also deposited another check in the correct amount. Coatney was contacted numerous times about the error but she refused to return the money.
Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Yomeka Evans investigated the case and booked Coatney into the Caddo Correctional Center for felony theft.
