Traffic stop leads to large drug seizure

A Bossier man was arrested late Friday night after Caddo patrol deputies discovered a large amount of illegal pills and marijuana during a traffic stop, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator. 

Broderick Simmons, 37, of Bossier City was traveling in a Nissan Maxima on LA 173 when he was stopped at I-220 by Caddo Sheriff's Deputy Timothy King for an equipment violation. Simmons, the driver was also accompanied by a female and a two-month-old child. Simmons was pat-searched by Deputy King for officer safety and found to be in possession of approximately 100 ecstasy pills along with a digital scale and over $2,500 in cash. Deputy Vincent Jackson assisted and found over 4 pounds of marijuana, nearly 300 more ecstasy pills, and a .380 handgun while searching the vehicle. 

Simmons was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for no license plate light, cruelty to a juvenile, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of possession with intent to distribute schedule I, and illegal carrying of a weapon. The street value of the drugs seized by deputies was over $24,000.
