Woman arrested for passing counterfeit checks
Caddo Sheriff’s detectives have arrested a Shreveport woman for using counterfeit checks to purchase a car and other items, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Kirstin O’Neal, 34, of the 9200 block of Dean Road, purchased a car for $5,144 from a local dealership in December. Her check was later returned as counterfeit.
During an investigation by Sheriff’s Detective Yomeka Evans, it was learned that between December 17, 2015, and January 10, 2016, O’Neal passed over 40 fraudulent checks as payment for goods. Those losses totaled an additional $3,729.
Evans and deputies with the CPSO Warrants division located O’Neal and the stolen vehicle at Hillside Apartments. The vehicle was returned to the dealership and O’Neal was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for four counts of forgery and one count of felony theft.
