Town clerk behind bars for theft
Thursday, November 19, 2015
A town clerk for Oil City has been charged with stealing over $24,000, said Caddo sheriff Steve Prator.
Melissa Doise, 44, of Oil City was charged with felony theft for embezzling cash and manipulating accounting records in an effort to conceal the theft of $24,654.29.
Sheriff’s Detective Yomeka Evan’s, who investigated the case for the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force, said the theft occurred between January 2013 and August 2015. Doise altered accounting records and disposed of deposit slips to cover up the theft. On Tuesday, Evan’s obtained a felony theft warrant for Doise with a bond set at $35,000. Melissa Doise turned herself in at the Caddo Correctional Center yesterday afternoon.
