The Caddo Sheriff's Office is on the scene of a "well control issue" on Hwy. 1 South between Yearwood and Ellerbe roads, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

The Sheriff's Office was advised of the call at the Chesapeake well around 2:30 a.m. There were no injuries reported.

The Caddo Sheriff's Office and Louisiana State Police Hazardous Materials Units responded. First Call emergency notification was used to contact households within a half-mile radius. It was recommended for those households to evacuate until further notice.

At this time, Hwy. 1 South in both directions is closed to traffic at Hwy. 509, Hwy. 175, and Ellerbe Road.
