Three people arrested in forgery ring
WASHINGTON, SHATRINA QUIYOLANDA
CAMPBELL, SETORRA
Three people are in jail charged with participating in a forgery ring that netted nearly $12,000, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
The investigation began in November when numerous counterfeit checks were cashed under the name of a local restaurant. Sheriff’s Detective Yomeka Evans said two suspects - Corey D. Ashley and Shatrina Q. Washington - were recruited to cash the counterfeit checks. A third suspect, Setorra M. Campbell, drove them to different businesses to cash the checks, then paid them from the proceeds, while keeping most of the money.
Washington, who worked at the restaurant named on the checks, is accused of giving Campbell a copy of her payroll check so it could be counterfeited.
Campbell was arrested today by LA Probation and Parole. Ashley was arrested by Evans and Sheriff’s Detective Doug Smith following a foot chase on North Market on Friday. Washington was arrested on December 2.
Washington, 23, is charged with 11 counts of forgery. Ashley, 26, is charged with 10 counts of forgery and one count of resisting an officer. Campbell is accused of 11 counts of forgery.
More arrests could be forthcoming.
