Caddo deputies charged an Arkansas man with attempted simple escape after a handcuff key was found in his mouth while he was being booked into the Caddo Correctional Center, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

On Monday night, Christopher Lynn Wright was transferred to CCC where he was scanned with the Securpass body scanner during the booking process. Sheriff’s Deputy Keith Morgan saw the key on the scan. It was hidden along Wright’s left jaw. After the key was detected, Wright took it out of his mouth and gave it deputies. It is not known where he got the key.

Wright, 34, of Benton, AR, was originally arrested by police at a local casino for identity theft, unauthorized use of an access card, and illegal possession of stolen things.   He now faces additional charges of attempted simple escape and possession of contraband inside a jail.
