Woman arrested for bank fraud
Friday, August 1, 2014
A Shreveport woman landed in jail on Thursday for stealing more than $186,000 in a bank fraud scheme, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Kelley Rotharmel, 29, of the 9000 block of Sundance, turned herself last night after detectives sought a warrant for her arrest on a charge of bank fraud.
Caddo Sheriff’s Detective Frank Edmondson said Rotharmel wrote four checks to a local credit union and then stopped payment on the checks causing the credit union to lose $186,449. Edmondson said Rotharmel floated money by moving it between three accounts and two banking institutions.
Rotharmel turned herself in to authorities Thursday night. Her bond was set at $175,000.
