Caddo Sheriff's deputies responded to a medical emergency earlier tonight when a 4-year-old boy was found unconscious in a backyard swimming pool.

The child was a visitor at the home in the 9600 block of Dayton Road where a family gathering was taking place. Deputies and Fire District #1 were called to the house after the boy was found unresponsive in the above-ground pool. People at the home and firefighters performed CPR  before the child was taken to University Health by Life Air Rescue. He later died. The child's name has not yet been released.
