Store clerk arrested for stealing $60,000
A former clerk at a Fairfield Avenue convenience store was arrested for stealing more than $60,000 from the business, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Store management became suspicious of Candee Brown when an internal audit revealed massive shortages from the store. The store investigated and found that Brown had been ringing up customers, accepting their money then cancelling the sales and placing the cash in her pocket. In addition she regularly allowed friends and acquaintances to leave without paying for items.
Sheriff’s Detective Doug Smith said Brown committed the thefts on a daily basis since February.
Brown, 44, of Shreveport, was arrested Thursday at a hotel on Monkhouse Drive. She was booked into Caddo Correctional Center for theft.
