Deputies are investigating a fatal crash that occurred earlier this morning on Gilliam-Scotts Slough in north Caddo Parish, said Sheriff Steve Prator.

The accident occurred around 7:10 a.m. when 52-year-old Phillip Mark Kellog of Bradley, Arkansas, lost control of his vehicle while traveling southbound. The truck left the roadway, went into a ditch, then overturned in a cotton field. Kellog was wearing a seatbelt and was still in the vehicle when emergency personnel arrived. He was removed from the truck by Fire District #8, but was deceased at the scene.

Lt. Michael Gray of the Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit said the Sheriff's Office is investigating whether speed was a factor in the crash.
