Caddo deputies responded to an accident involving three 18-wheelers in south Caddo Parish around 4:30 this morning.

For several hours, the northbound lane of Hwy 1 South in front of the Relay Station was diverted to Hwy 175 and then onto I-49. The lane was re-opened around 10 a.m. 

Patrol Lt. James Bonnette said a southbound 18-wheeler turned in front of a northbound tanker truck carrying 6,450 gallons of chemical liquid. The tank was punctured and all of the liquid was released onto the roadway. A third 18-wheeler that was in the parking lot was also hit.

The spill was cleaned up, and no evacuations were called for.

The driver of the southbound 18-wheeler was cited for failure to yield. He's been identified as Christian E. Gilmartin, 49, of North Richmond Hills, Texas.
