A former manager/bookkeeper for Trinity Southern Foods was charged on Wednesday with stealing nearly $100,000 from his employer, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Jeffery Norbury, 54, of Bossier City, was charged with felony theft for embezzling cash and manipulating accounting records to conceal the theft of $97,655.

Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring, who investigated the case for the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force, said the theft occurred between January 2, 2012 and December 31, 2013. Herring examined point of sale records, bank deposit records and accounting software to reveal the theft.

Norbury was arrested on Monday by Louisiana Probation and Parole officers for violating conditions of parole. He was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center where the offense of felony theft was added to his charges yesterday.

Norbury was convicted in 1991 for stealing over $35,000 from the City of Shreveport, while employed as the Payroll and Benefits Coordinator. He was convicted in 1995 for theft from another Shreveport business.
