The former manager of a local apartment complex was arrested Tuesday for stealing $16,000 in rental payments, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.

Antonia Martinez, 38, was arrested on a warrant for theft and was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center.

Martinez was the office manager at Grimmett Drive Apartments between February and August 2013. During that time, she took more than $16,000 in rental payments from tenants and never turned the money over to the business. An audit revealed Martinez manipulated the company's computer system to show payments so receipts would be printed for the tenants. She then reversed the payments and pocketed the money.

The theft warrant was obtained by Caddo Sheriff's Detective Yomeka Evans of the Caddo-Shreveport Financial Crimes Task Force. Martinez was arrested at the Shreveport home of a family member by Deputy Ondray Miles.
