Employee embezzles nearly $600,000 from local company
A Shreveport Women who was employed as a personal assistant to the owner of Phillips Energy was arrested Friday morning for embezzling from the company, said Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator.
Phyllis Longmire is accused of embezzling over $600,000. Longmire issued 206 fraudulent checks and later altered the checks so that she could negotiate them.
Sheriff’s Detective Bobby Herring investigated the case and said Longmire created fictitious payees in the company’s accounting program and then issued checks to the made-up payees. Once the checks were issued, she would alter the checks and make them payable to her husband. She then deposited the checks into her personal bank account.
Longmire, 52, of the 9000 block of Windbrooke Drive, was arrested for felony theft. She was booked into Caddo Correctional Center.
