A Vivian man is facing an attempted murder charge for pointing a gun at his estranged wife and running into the truck she was driving with his vehicle.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said the incident occurred on August 8 when Tony Carmack, 49, saw his wife, Darlene, driving near Oil City with another man in her truck. Carmack pursued them and blocked their vehicle on LA Hwy. 538, forcing them to stop. He then drove toward them, pointing a gun at Darlene and her passenger. Darlene tried to escape, but Carmack drove in reverse, ramming the driver's side of her truck, and pushing it into a ditch. Darlene managed to flee in her vehicle and drove from Hwy. 538 to Hwy. 530 where she turned and lost site of Carmack.

Following an investigation by the Caddo Sheriff's Office, Detective Andy Scoggins obtained a warrant for Carmack for attempted first-degree murder. He was arrested the next day in Texas with assistance from the Harrison County Sheriff's Office and was transferred to the Caddo Correctional Center on Tuesday.
