Man arrested for stealing car at knifepoint
Caddo Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man for stealing an elderly woman’s car at knifepoint over the weekend, said Sheriff Steve Prator.
On Sunday evening, the 77-year-old victim was leaving the Hosston Post Office when she was approached by a man who was armed with a knife. The man yelled at the victim and demanded her keys. The woman ran around her vehicle to get away and then threw the man the keys. The suspect then fled the scene in the victim’s 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, said Detective Matt Purgerson.
Earlier today, the victim was contacted by a friend who saw the stolen vehicle at a grocery store on North Market Street in Shreveport. The Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office was advised, and a traffic stop was conducted at Wells Island Road and Grimmett Drive. Howard William Snyder Jr. was taken into custody by Sheriff’s Cpls. Kevin Stewart, Greg McGee, Michael Vaitkus, William Mikesell and Sgt. Jackie Winston.
Snyder, 51, was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center for armed robbery. Snyder listed his address at booking as the 6300 block of Dogwood in Hosston although he told deputies he is homeless.
